My Favorite Kind of Work (Invisible VFX)

In this post I created for LinkedIn, I share a video discussing the art of object removal. My favorite kind of visual effect is the invisible removal or addition of elements that the viewer never notices.

WebPT - Freelance Editing

This year I was contacted by a friend who oversees video production for WebPT, a company that produces software for physical therapy clinics and practitioners to organize and streamline their business. He needed a second editor to take on a few projects he had on backlog, so he hired me to cut these videos.

Product Prototype Demos

In my work for Innovator's DNA, I have created a lot of content that sees only limited public release. I've worked with a lot of different teams in various stages of progress on prototype products and services. Here I have a collection of videos I've made while working as a one-man-crew with tight timelines.

Kinetic Typography - The Piano Guys

The Piano Guys commissioned this kinetic typography animation for their original song, "It's Gonna Be Okay". I was given a few similar videos as reference, but the animation was left up to me. It was my first serious foray into the world of kinetic typography, and I'm happy with the result.

Fundraising for a Friend

A high school buddy of mine was recently raising money to study at the prestigious Berklee school of music and hired me to make a simple video for his GoFundMe page.

In case you were curious, yes, he did manage to get to Spain. In addition to the funds he raised on GoFundMe, he was able to find a graduate student loan that covered the rest.

Compositing Animals - The Piano Guys

This one is pretty straightforward. The Piano Guys called me up to help them add some Jungle Book characters into a shot in their new video. So we found some stock footage of a bear, a monkey, and a panther and I tracked and matched the color as best I could.

The VFX shot begins at 2:05

Do you see any radio towers?

Do you see the radio tower in this dance video from the BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble?

The answer is no. That's because they commissioned me to paint out the tower (along with a few stray horse trailers, cars and houses) from their location shoot at the Hare Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Along with the painting out of radio towers, I did some work on the early part of the video to enhance the smoke that signals the beginning of the dream sequence.
